Born in Flint, Michigan, USA, Keith McGee studied with distinguished jazz educator Chuck Iwanusa. From there he moved on to Eastern Michigan University to continue his studies in Music Theory, Saxophone and Piano.

After receiving his B.Sc in Music Theory from EMU, Keith spent the following 2 years as coach of the University Jazz Combos which included performances at the prestigious Elmhurst College Jazz Festival.
